Riga Castle is both home to the Latvian National Museum of History and a building of outstanding architectural value. The Museum has been located here since 1920 and currently occupies the reconstructed wing of the oldest part of Riga Castle with the entrance from Daugavas gāte.

Until the end of 2024, the Museum offers the opportunity to explore the restored rooms of the castle and to attend a programme of events.

The new exhibitions will be installed in Riga Castle from the beginning of 2025. The museum plans to resume full operations in the second half of 2025 with the permanent exhibitions “Livonian Castles”, “Sacred Art”, “History of Riga Castle” and “Streaming Time”.
