Latvia From the Foundation to the Present Day (available from year 2025)

Target audience: grades 5–9, grades 10–12

This lesson aims to strengthen pupils’ knowledge and understanding of the events of 20th century Latvian historical events.

Procedure: the lesson is especially suitable for 9th and 12th graders preparing for the history exam. By listening to the museum educator’s narration and watching a slide show of photographs, posters and other historical sources, pupils strengthen their knowledge and understanding of the most important 20th century events in Latvia, from World War I to Latvia’s accession to NATO and the European Union. Pupils analyse different historical sources and summarise their knowledge in a worksheet prepared by the museum, which helps them to revise what they have learned at school and at the museum.
