Bonistics collection

The bonistics collection consists of banknotes and securities from around the world that have served as official means of payment. The oldest paper money dates back to the late 18th century. The “monetary chaos” that prevailed in Latvia during World War I and the War of Independence is particularly well-represented in the collection. Collection also has the Republic of Latvia issues of Latvian roubles and lats; it also contains albums of Latvian paper money samples acquired from the Republic of Latvia Ministry of Finance. A noteworthy set of materials is related to the restoration of the lats in the 1990s.
