While There is Still Time. Beginning of Photoethnography in Latvia
This exhibition is a tribute to the first ethnographic photographs and features more than 150 photographs taken between the 1860s and the 1920s.
It tells the story of the beginnings of national self-awareness and ethnographic research in Latvia at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, and both shows and explains the evidence of traditional culture that was visually recorded. The story of the first works of photoethnography is also closely linked to the personalities of the outstanding, selfless, enthusiastic photographers who became pioneers of Latvian professional photography and promoters of social responsibility among their contemporaries, actively encouraging everyone to document the disappearing heritage of traditional culture in their photographs. Among them are Jānis Krēsliņš, Pēteris Abuls, Oskars Emīls Šmits, Mārtiņš Buclers, Mārtiņš Sams, Jānis Rieksts, Arnolds Cālītis, and others.

The exhibition consists of 12 stands.
The exhibition is intended to be displayed outdoors.
Transport
The exhibition commissioning body provides transport for the exhibition and museum specialist to/from the exhibition site.
The exhibition can fit in a van.
Reservation
At least 1 week before the exhibition data with a signed contract and sent invoice.
For special dates (national holidays in November and May, barricade days in January), exhibitions are booked approximately half a year in advance.
